AIRWAVE KISS – It is like a good friend (DHV 1-2)

Security and performance for the discerning new pilot looking to spread their wings or the wise who consider comfort and safety to be their top priority

THE INTERMEDIATE FOR NEW AND RECREATIONAL PILOTS
The Kiss is a secure step in to the intermediate class of Paraglider. Aimed at recreational pilots who want maximum security and comfort in the DHV 1-2 class, this glider is designed to make soaring stress free and effortless. An ideal wing for pilots to gain their early cross country experience on, or experienced intermediate pilots who simply want stability and peace of mind in their flights.

DESIGNER'S NOTES

The profile and plan form of the Wave were a perfect starting block for the Kiss as we already had an excellent sail with great stability. However, we wanted to add more performance, and latest technology to make the wing appealing to more experienced pilots so we redesigned the whole cut of the sail, and introduced some new line materials reducing parasitic drag.

The KISS was developed on the newest design program like the very successful Magic 4 . The new software has incredible accuracy and allows panels to be shaped in a totally new way. The result is that we've been able to build in more tension on the leading edge. This keeps the sail clean and tight and creates a smoother, cleaner profile.

Aesthetics aside this is a great way of adding performance without compromising either the handling or the stability. To aid pitch stability it has a newly developed diagonal structure. By moving away from a full length diagonal structure we were able to save more weight, reduce the inertia of the wing and aid re-inflation after closures.

As a further boost to security we used a soft nylon edging tape on the bottom surface leading and edge seams, which is less likely to snag and cravat the wing than the harder Mylar tape. Finally to give the wing a real feeling of safety and stability in roll we used a centre rib rather than a 'weightshift cell'. The centre rib is linked to the cells either side by diagonal ribs and controls the effect of weight-shift on the wing.

The end result is an exceptionally clean wing with outstanding safety and excellent performance for its class.

The Kiss is perfect for pilots leaving school or in fact any pilot searching for a wing, which inspires confidence, but at the same time delivers the handling and performance to fly high and far.

The Kiss allows its pilot to relax, and concentrate on flying, safe in the knowledge that the wing he is flying has passed the most stringent safety tests available:

Easy launch and ground handling

low stall speed - and wide speed range

Light progressive handling and ‘auto-centering' in thermals

Exceptional pitch stability for calm and reassuring flights

Partially closed leading edge

Great glide

Little change in direction even with one wing collapsed completely

Even when using the speed system the reaction to collapses remains tame

Stable in Roll

DHV 1-2 in all 3 sizes
